Performs a variety of duties such as surgical assist, independently evaluating, and providing care to assigned patients. On an independent basis, assesses, diagnoses, and documents findings. Writes medical orders. Makes clinical decisions relative to patient management based on the surgeon's protocols.
EDUCATION: Graduation from a Physician Assistant Program accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program; Bachelor's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Orthopaedic and joint experience preferred. Experience working under the direction of a surgeon preferred.
LICENSE/CERT/REG: Current NCCPA (National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants) certification. Current certification with the Maryland Board of Physicians Quality Assurance (BPQA). BLS (Basic Life Support) certification. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification preferred.
SKILLS: Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred.
