The Japanese Interpreter acts as a liaison between English and non-English speaking and/or hearing guests, staff and patients by providing interpreter services.
- Listens to, comprehends and translates oral or written communications from English to another language and vice versa.
- Translates basic to intermediate communication.
- Complies with all privacy and confidentiality policies when communicating patient information.
- Develops translated forms and educational materials for non-English speaking and/or hearing populations.
- Minimum Qualification: Completion of a 40-hour medical interpretation course (eg, Bridging the Gap, Spanish Bilingual Assistant) and completion of a Bilingual Proficiency Assessment in English and the targeted language by hire date to a position.
- Minimum Qualification: High School Diploma or equivalent by hire date to a position.
- Preferred Qualification: Experience working in a healthcare environment.
