Chief Of Staff (Physician)
The Northport, NY Veterans Affairs Medical Center is recruiting for a Chief Of Staff. The Northport VAMAC is a multilevel health care Center of Excellence, fully accredited by the Joint Commission, and Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
As the Chief of Staff, the incumbent serves as the full assistant to the Director in leading and managing this highly active and complex 270-bed general medical, surgical, psych, research, and teaching VA Medical Center with a 139-bed Nursing Home Care Unit (NHCU). The incumbent works on a day-to-day basis with the Director, Associate Director and AD/Patient Care Service as a full member the Medical Center's Executive Management Team. The Chief of Staff has line authority over the Clinical programs. He/she actively participates in top management discussions, decisions, and policymaking, and shares in the responsibility for the development and implementation of long and short-range policies and plans. As a member of the executive management team, the Chief of Staff is held accountable for the success of the Medical Center's various programs.
The Chief of Staff position requires comprehensive knowledge of the missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; thorough familiarity with the regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing organizations; and broad knowledge of the various administrative areas, such as budget, human resources, and procurement.
Candidates must have a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the US or District Columbia. Experience as a health care administrator along with a work history that demonstrates experience managing and leading clinical staff and delivering high quality patient care while managing essential administrative functions such as budget execution and resource allocation is highly preferred.
