This position exists to perform ophthalmic, diagnostic procedures and ophthalmic/medical assistance in support of the clinical activities of the department under the direct supervision of the Ophthalmologist. Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities High school diploma or GED. Completion of a formal training program from an accredited school or on-the-job training in an Ophthalmology office. COT/COMT certification preferred. Previous experience or training in health care office. Ability to communicate with patients, co-worker and manager. Must be willing to help in all areas and understand the need for efficient use of time. 1-2 years working in Ophthalmology/Optometrist Office. CPR certified or the ability to become CPR certified. Requires ability to maintain knowledge and competency level with all diagnostic-testing procedures. Requires knowledge and skills necessary to assess and provide care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served. Requires knowledge of infection control principles. Requires knowledge of exam room, chair side assistance.
