The Tulane University School of Social Work invites applications for a 12-month tenured faculty appointment for the position of Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. The Associate Dean has responsibility for fostering innovative and collaborative, methods for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the academic programs in the TSSW. Specifically, the Associate Dean provides strategic academic leadership and oversight of Master of Social Work (on-ground and online), Master of Science in Disaster Resiliency Leadership (DRLA), and Doctorate of Social Work (DSW) programs, pedagogy, curricula, and instruction to ensure successful delivery of the academic programs. Candidates shall have a strong record of research, teaching, and service consistent with an appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure. The TSSW is seeking candidates with expertise in any of the following areas: Behavioral health, addiction, clinical practice, community organizing, health disparities, or disaster mental health. The Associate Dean serves as a consultant to the Dean on academic matters, and supports full, part-time, and adjunct faculty. The Associate Dean is the lead in ensuring high-quality instruction in TSSW courses and programs, and on all accreditation matters and processes. The Associate Dean is also responsible for working collaboratively with the Assistant Dean of Administration and Finance, faculty, and staff, to implement administrative policies and procedures. The Associate Dean will work collaboratively with the Dean and directly with faculty on the development of a strategic vision and implementation strategy for TSSW. The Associate Dean Administrative appointment will be reviewed every three years and will have the opportunity to be renewed; pending continued successful reviews associated with both administrative and academic excellence.
Earned doctorate or other terminal degree in a field of study relevant to Social Work, Psychology, or Public Health.
At least three years of directly related experience with faculty development, academic support, curriculum oversight, and program development.
Successful record of accomplishment in research.
Experience with academic program development processes, and an ability to create a meaningful, rigorous curriculum, administrative policies, procedures, and structure for developing and supporting academic programs.
Experience with the review and adherence to accrediting standards.
Experience with both on-ground and online academic programs.
A record of accomplishment of developing and offering innovative programs within education institutions.
Ability to supervise and support program managers.
Experience with and ability to hire, supervise, and evaluate full-time and part-time faculty members.
Ability to oversee hiring and manage of adjunct faculty across MSW, MS and DSW programs.
A deep commitment to offering high quality educational opportunities to working adult students.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated comfort with data-driven program management.
